i feel like christmas is here

This morning it feels like winter. As my friend elisa says "texas weather is like boys. you can't predict them, and they don't make any sense." anywho... i have become a bit obsessed with scarves over the summer. so here are some good winter ones i have found.

From Anthropologie
From Gap
From Urban Outfitters
Also from Urban. I want some of these leg warmers bad!

pumpkin bread

This is the closest recipe i have found that tastes like central markets pumpkin bread.

Ingredients:

1 (15 oz) can pumpkin puree
4 eggs
1 c. vegetable oil
2/3 c. water
3 c. white sugar
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. ground ginger

Mix together ingredients to create batter. Pour into loaf pans or bunt pans. Bake at 350 F for 50 min to an hour. This makes a lot! So half the recipe if necessary

get your vote on

Get patriotic with these cute stamps from paper source
Or these awesome graphics from you work for them

Or just buy a cup of coffee and pretend that its an actual vote and not a marketing scheme for 7-11 to sell more coffee...seriously people. at least vote in the real election if you are going to do this, and please don't vote uninformed. That was my soap box moment for he day :)

blisters

My hands feel like they are about to fall off after a night of cutting plastic, which i am still working on doing. I am making some boxes out of frosted plastic to hold skateboard wheels, bearings, and hardware. Here is the concept.

ugh!

Tonight i was really craving one of the best burger combinations i have ever had : bacon, cheddar, bleu cheese, and avacado with lettuce and onion. There is a great place in Arlington called Tom's Burger and Grill off 30 and Cooper, but we didn't want to drive that far so I thought we would go to Fuddruckers and I would drop the avacado part of it. Sooooo, that was a terrible idea. The "bleu cheese" they gave me looked like a slice of provolone. I argued that that clearly wasn't bleu cheese and they argued back that it clearly was! It tasted terrible and wasn't even close to being as wonderful as bleu cheese crumbles. So no more fuddruckers for me.

Also, there is this neato place that my mom is taking us next weekend called the Counter. Its a build your own burger place with neat toppings, and they serve veggie burgers my fave! Check it out, it's too cool for words. I can't wait!!

t-shirt concepts

So there were some okay design ideas from the juniors for this years design focus tee, but the coolest idea of them all was a lewis shirt. Lewis is one of our design professors. The design of it though needed some love so me and rolf put together this first design, then we made another one that ended up being for the heck of it. i really hope people choose the lewis tee.... so sweet!

walllllllls

Awesome wallpaper at the wall collection. As the proud renter of an apartment...I say glue it to some canvas or frame it as a piece of wall art so you can take it with you when you move.

Also check out Kim Myles idea on how to use fabric as wallpaper with liquid starch.
